Frequently Asked Questions
About Voting

  • Where do I vote?

Voting takes place on Tuesday, November 4, 2003. Registered voters report to their local polling station in the precinct they are registered to vote. The polls will be open from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. Remember to bring a photo ID to the polls as Virginia State law requires each voter to show an official identification (e.g., Driver's License, Government issued ID, etc.) before he/she is allowed to vote.  (See below for absentee voting information.)

  • Can I vote absentee?

Registered voters who will be away from Fairfax County on Election Day, or who are unable to go to the polls because of illness or disability may vote by absentee ballot. See "Am I Eligible to Vote Absentee." (For example, if you plan on being away from your home for more than 11 hours on Election Day, you should consider voting by absentee ballot or by in-person absentee before the general election.)

Eligible citizens may vote in-person prior to election day, or apply to have an absentee ballot mailed to them.

If you plan on voting absentee, you must complete an Absentee Ballot Application and mail it to the General Registrar, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 323, Fairfax, VA 22035-0081 or fax it to 703-324-2205.
