
![]() FamilyKen met his wife, Teiro, when she moved in three doors down from his family’s Northern Virginia home. They dated in high school and married in 1991, after Teiro graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Business Administration. Ken and Teiro have both lived in Northern Virginia for over 30 years and grew up attending Fairfax County elementary and middle schools. They have been blessed with five daughters and one son.
EducationKen graduated from Gonzaga High School and went on to earn a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Virginia, followed by his Juris Doctorate from George Mason University’s School of Law and Economics and his Master’s degree in International Commerce and Policy, also from GMU.
CommunityKen and Teiro are active members of St. Andrew's Church, where Ken serves as a regular Lector.Ken served from 1994 to 1999 on Virginia's Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Advisory Committee (JJDP), serving as chairman of the committee for two years. Ken’s proudest accomplishment on the JJDP was to change grant requirements to force localities to objectively measure the success or failure of their programs. This level of accountability helped the JJDP to focus funding on the most successful programs. In 1998-99, Ken served as the Sully District representative on the Fairfax County Public Schools Social Studies Advisory Committee during the time when new SOLs were being written and introduced. He believes these committees should be composed primarily of concerned parents and their recommendations taken seriously by school staff. From 1998-2000, Ken was a member of the board of directors of Families, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting families during crises that are being worked out through the local court systems. In addition to being a member of the board, Ken performed all legal training for visitation supervisors utilized by Families, Inc. At Families, Inc., and in his own law firm, Ken has emphasized family preservation and child welfare in the situations where he has served as an advocate. Ken has also been a volunteer basketball coach and a volunteer basketball referee.
