The ABSENTEE VOTING process is detailed at the Fairfax County Electoral Board website.

REGISTERED VOTERS MAY VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT if they are eligible to do so. While there are a variety of eligibility criteria, absentee voting is generally available for those who will be away from Fairfax County on Election Day, who are unable to go to the polls because of illness or disability or who will be working on election day for 11 hours between the hours of 6:00 am and 7:00 pm.

ABSENTEE VOTING IN PERSON is possible at the Fairfax County Government Center or designated magisterial district offices. The dates and times for this voting will be specified by the Electoral Board but they are generally Monday - Saturday for the three weeks immediately preceding the election.

APPLY FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT BY MAIL by using the Absentee Ballot Application form. This form must be submitted to the Fairfax County Office of the General Registrar. If the applicant is eligible, an absentee ballot will be mailed out.
